More than half a century has passed since the beginning of modern computing and Alan Turing’s initial suggestion of artificial intelligence (AI). During this time, technology has evolved drastically, and AI has become increasingly relevant. But what does this technology look like now? What challenges and opportunities does it represent?
In an effort to answer these questions and provide attendees with a deep dive into AI, IPADE once again hosted EmTech Digital LATAM, the international gathering hosted by MIT Technology Review and Opinno that examines future trends and the technologies that will drive the global economy. The event was held on July 2-3, 2019 at IPADE’s Mexico City campus.
During his welcome remarks, IPADE Dean Rafael Gómez Nava highlighted the importance of conversations that honestly engage with the challenges of this new technological revolution and encouraged attendees to stop fearing AI in order to understand and anticipate its opportunities.
Gideon Lichfield, Editor in Chief of MIT Technology Review, added, “One of the challenges of artificial intelligence is supervised deep learning that will give technology the ability to replicate what humans are able to do.”
Over the course of two days, the more than 400 event attendees engaged with AI experts from companies such as Amazon, BBVA, Ford, Fortinet, IBM, and NVIDIA, as well as academics from IPADE and MIT, on the most recent trends in AI and shared lessons and strategies on how to apply this cutting-edge technology within their organizations.
