On May 2, 2018, IPADE welcomes Chairman Emeritus of Nestlé, Peter Brabeck-Letmathé, to its campus in Mexico City as part of its CEO Lecture Series. Part of the IPADE Continuing Education Program, the CEO Lecture Series provides IPADE students and alumni the opportunity to engage with some of today’s top business leaders from around the world.
Julián Sánchez, Assistant Dean of IPADE, welcomed attendees to the evening lecture: “I would like to warmly welcome you all to the CEO Lecture by Peter Brabeck-Letmathé,” said and continued “We’re very honored to welcome such an esteemed business leader to IPADE, and we are sure that this event will be an excellent opportunity to open a dialog.”
After a brief introduction from Rocío Reyna, Head of Faculty Administration at the Instituto Internacional San Telmo, Mr. Brabeck-Letmathé took the stage to focus on the great challenges facing the business world in 2018, drawing from his many years as CEO and Chairman of Nestlé, as well as his experience as a member of the board of the World Economic Forum, L’Oréal, Credit Suisse, and other major corporations. The five major points that Mr. Brabeck-Letmathé focused on were the following:
- Digitalization
- Human resources – succession and inter-generational shifts
- Business models within the new economic context
- Innovation and the Fourth Industrial Revolution
- The company’s relationship with society
Mr. Brabeck-Letmathé particularly focused on the challenges presented by the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the generational shift in the workplace, as well as the lack of high-skilled workers in most developed economies.
Following his presentation, Mr. Brabeck-Letmathé opened the session to questions from the audience. The evening closed with a networking cocktail, providing IPADE participants and alumni the opportunity to network among themselves and with business leaders and CEOs.
