On January 31st, the Outreach Office hosted its first CEO Lecture Series of 2018. Part of the IPADE Continuing Education Program, the CEO Lecture Series provides IPADE students and alumni the opportunity to engage with some of today’s top business leaders from around the world. The 2018 series began with special guest Daniel Servitje, CEO of Grupo Bimbo.
The evening opened with a welcome from Gonzalo Díaz, Director of Outreach, who thanked all the attendees for being present at the first event of the year, and who extended a special thanks to Mr. Servitje for kicking off the 2018 event series.
Founded in Mexico in 1945, Grupo Bimbo is now the world’s largest baking company, with approximately $13.9 billion dollars in sales, operations in 32 countries, 137,500 employees, and offers more than 13,000 products through its 100+ different brands. During his presentation, Mr. Servitje emphasized the fact that people are a company’s most important asset.
“We have 137,500 team members, but I don’t lose sleep worrying about managing so many people. We trust in our leaders and assume that they do their job well,” said Mr. Servitje. “We wouldn’t have been able to create this company without our people. Technology is all well and good, but it’s the people that make the company.”
Following his presentation, Mr. Servitje opened the session to questions from the audience. The CEO Lecture Series creates an opportunity for IPADE participants and alumni to network among themselves and with leading business leaders and CEOs from around the world.
