On April 9 and 10, 2019, 70 participants from the Mexico City and Monterrey campuses participated in the first-ever IPADE Case Competition. Organized by the Career Service Office (CEDIC) in an effort to connect IPADE Full-Time MBA (MEDE) participants with companies from across different industries, teams from the two campuses worked to analyze a business case and present their solutions to a jury made up of representatives from the business world.
Gabriela Ávalos, Director of the Mexico City CEDIC, welcomed participants and jury members to the event, sharing some background about the competition.
“Welcome to the first edition of the IPADE Case Competition,” said Ms. Ávalos. “We’re pleased to welcome representatives from a range of different companies today. The purpose of this event is to give companies a chance to get to know our Full-Time MBA participants better – it’s one thing to see a CV, but it’s another thing entirely to see a candidate apply their problem-solving skills in action. We hope that this event is beneficial for everyone.”
Following an individual study period, the participants came together in teams to discuss the facts, issues, and potential solutions associated with the case. The jury then evaluated multiple different aspects, including each team’s ability to work together, their comprehensive understanding of the situation, and more.
The jury included representatives from the hiring teams at Accenture, American Tower, Chedraui, Credifiel, DHL, DuPont México, FEMSA, Grupo Logrand, Integration Consulting Group, Konfío, Mondelēz, Monex, Rappi, Sintec, and Uber.
The first edition of the IPADE Case Competition helped establish a closer relationship between IPADE participants and top companies looking for top talent.
