“How long does it take your organization to bring an idea to market and monetize it? If we’re talking years… well, it’s time to make the elephant dance.”
This was just one of the insights that Gijs van Wulfen, an innovation expert recognized by LinkedIn as one of its 150 top influencers, offered more than 100 IPADE alumni during his session at IPADE campus Guadalajara.
The inspirational content and the practical insights shared by Mr. van Wulfen were just as captivating as the floral suit he wore, while his out-of-the-box examples and animated presentation invited the audience to engage with new ideas and perspectives.
According to Mr. van Wulfen, it is important to approach innovation as a journey, with a focus on change, observation, iteration, and other efforts along the way to becoming an innovative organization.
“Ideas should emerge when you’re busy, when you don’t have time,” he said.
In addition to connecting ideas and providing solutions, Mr. van Wulfen emphasized the importance of innovating in a team, listening to the client, and integrating operational excellence with a focus on innovation.
At the close of the event, José Luis de Alba González, AD-2 Class of 1993, invited attendees to take the ideas they’d learned that evening out into their worlds to develop fresh, new ideas that will help promote innovative businesses and push for progress.
