On April 19, 2018, IPADE hosted the 4th Annual Food and Beverage Industry Summit, sponsored by Deloitte and DVA and organized in partnership with IESE, GS1, and Grupo Rosmar.
To open the event, Gabriel Reynoso, Director of the Summit, warmly welcomed all attendees:
“It is a pleasure to have this opportunity to reflect on the trends within the food and beverage industry,” said Mr. Reynoso. “For me personally, it is a great honor to take the reins of the fourth edition of this important gathering. This event is very important to IPADE because it is part of our mission to provide access to the tools that the business community requires.”
Roberto Manríquez, Professor in the Economic Environment department, offered an overview of the challenges currently facing the Mexican economy. IPADE Professor Eugenio Gómez then gave a presentation on the value of information throughout the history of humanity; Professor Gómez then introduced Boaz Guy, who provided the audience with an in-depth overview of the advantages of drip irrigation and how to efficiently use fertilizer.
Erick Calvillo, Partner at Deloitte; Paola Aguilar, Chief Commercial Officer of Cornershop; Roberto Rodarte, Director of Digital Strategy at Grupo Gigante; and Cui Arroyo, Director of E-commerce at Walmart, then participated in the panel “The Distribution of Food and Drink in the Digital Era,” sharing their views and experience regarding how the market has changed due to the new channels that are now available to current consumers.
Adrian Caldart, Professor at IESE, presented the 2018 edition of “Vademecum: Selling Across Cities On Food and Beverage Markets” and then moderated a panel titled “Opportunities and Challenges of Internationalization” featuring Humberto Martínez from Grupo Rosmar, Jorge Hernández from Wholesome International, and Claudia Reyes from Pro México.
The closing roundtable, titled “Building a Future in the Food and Beverage Sector,” was moderated by IPADE Professor Rodrigo de León González and featured Aniceto González from Tangible Nous, Diego Cantú from Pernod Ricard, and Massimo Martinotti from StarFire Effect.
Organized jointly by IESE and IPADE, the Food and Beverage Industry Summit provides a forum for reflection and debate, offering experts, academics, and high-level management the opportunity to discuss and share their experiences, keys to success, best practices, and lessons learned from their areas of focus.
