On September 7, 2017 IPADE hosted 400 attendees for the Harvard Business Review Summit Mexico, the most important meeting of leaders, organizations, and ideas regarding the future of management. The event was hosted by the Harvard Business Review (HBR), the most important strategy and leadership publication in the world, and Opinno, an innovation consultancy and the Spanish-language publisher of HBR. IPADE was proud to continue its partnership with the event, participating as the Strategic Academic Partner for the second year and hosting the day long activity at the IPADE campus in Mexico City. With the theme ‘The Art of Management for a New Era,’ the event served as an opportunity to engage in timely, in-depth discussion of the ideas, practices, solutions, and public policies that will change the way business is conducted in Mexico, in Latin America, and in the world.
The curated audience was made up of representatives from major Mexican and international corporations, entrepreneurs, and thought leaders from Mexico and beyond. Throughout the day, the program focused on big ideas facing the business community, with invited speakers tackling topics including ‘Shared Value: A Game Changer for Corporate Strategies,’ ‘New Ways of Working: Why Your Team Should Go Agile,’ ‘Global Powershift: The Role of Mexico in a New Era,’ and a live case study on public-private partnerships. Keynote sessions and roundtable discussions were complemented by smaller, targeted workshops, providing attendees with incredible opportunities to engage with and learn from the experience of top thought leaders, academics, and CEOs, including Robert Kaplan, Professor Emeritus of Harvard Business School; María Teresa Arnal, CEO of Google Mexico; Lorenzo Fernández Alonso, President of Southern Copper Corporation; and Xavier López, CEO of Kidzania; among others.
IPADE Dean Rafael Gómez Nava welcomed attendees to the event, emphasizing IPADE’s and the HBR Summit’s focus on the larger issues that face business leaders.
“There is no doubt that all of us here at IPADE are extremely proud to welcome the HBR Summit to our campus today… during this 50th anniversary year.” said Dean Gómez Nava. “Our mission is to educate leaders with a deep sense of social responsibility who will have a positive impact on their organizations, society, and the world. We consider this event to be one of the many ways that we give back to the business community and contribute to its continuous improvement.”
Pedro Moneo, CEO of Opinno, echoed these sentiments.
“I think that I’m with you when I say that we’re here with a lot of worry, a lot of concern, but also a lot of hope, a lot of optimism, and a lot of opportunity,” said Mr. Moneo. “For this event, we intentionally kept the audience small to ensure that everyone can get to know each other, can interact. We want everyone to engage both with our speakers and with each other today.”
Amy Bernstein, Editor of the Harvard Business Review, added, “I really love this event because of the way that [the audience] really makes everyone rethink and challenge things through [their] interactions.”
The event concluded with a gourmet cocktail for attendees and speakers. IPADE is proud to be the Strategic Academic Partner of the 3rd Annual Harvard Business Review Summit Mexico.
